Friends of Unity Blog Hop! Summer Vacation~July 2021

There is no question that Summer is here and it’s time to take those vacations! Whether it’s on the other side of the world, a car ride away or a hideaway place in your own backyard, it’s going to be fantastic!

This is a most fitting cue for July!
A summer vacation is not complete without a camera!
I heat embossed the camera with clear embossing powder. Next I stamped the photo frame twice. I cut out the first and stamped the girl image on the other. Then painting the image with distress inks and strands of purple hair, I cut out the image and adhered it to the photo frame, I think she turned out great! I painted the camera with distress inks. I glued these pieces on beautiful paper one of my daughters made with pearlescent watercolors. Finally I stamped the sentiments on the base and added Stickles over the heart on the camera.
The camera is popped up to give it interest.

A vacation is rest and relaxation on a beach. I stamped the image on a Gina Marie die. Next I watercolored it with distress inks and adhered it to a kraft backing. I added photo corners for interest and a vacation feel.

Do you see the dragonfly? I added it because I am covering up a mistake but nobody has to know that!

This is a new release and when I saw her I thought she just looked like she was living the life of what a summer vacation should be! I stamped the burlap background with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I blended salty ocean distress ink in uneven amounts. I heat embossed the girl with clear embossing powder and colored her with Copic markers. I loosely blended the colors and dotted in the areas where the two shades meet. I like this technique as it is not exact and gives the image a free flowing feel. I dabbed on Stickles on the top of the donut floatie.
A fun balloon animal embellishment finishes off the card. The sentiment is also hiding a rough edge where my scissors were not cooperating!

  2. Wow, all three cards are just fabulous summer cards. I just bought those Gina Marie dies; so pretty! I love how you added the photo corners and of course, the beautiful dragonfly. The 3rd card is my favorite; I just love everything about it.

  5. Your cards always impress me and are so beautifully colored. I love them all, but the girl lounging on the donut floatie is so adorable and fun. I also LOVE the one with the camera!

  6. The colors are vacation, fun and so so pretty. I like that you craft with your daughters paper creation, lovely lovely background! I didn’t see the dragonfly until you pointed it out, thought it was a bow on her hat, very pretty. Learning to color and love the flow and dimension you achieved. Going to try that dotting technique. Thanks.
